How do I make my existing steering wheel controls work with my after market radio?

What radio?

You will normally need to buy an adapter cable (and box) to link them to your radio. These are generally split by manufacturer - i.e. my Pioneer radio had a box to convert from Ford to pioneer.

Just a cheap Chinese one, standard radio fittings

Sadly it's not looking possible then mate, 

If you had a "main stream" brand of aftermarket headunit such as pioneer or sony you can fit a model specific steering stalk adaptor which the steering stalk loom plugs in to and provides the correct connection on the other end for the specific headunit.

Sadly Lenny might be right, but I have found a universal one, depending on the brand of the radio I could likely be of more help.

EDIT: It appears you might be at a loss unless you purchase a new interface controller that works with your headunit and then buy the lead required to enable the controls to work.

 

You might be better off just either selling it or saving up for longer and buying a proper branded headunit, this is what I did and I couldn't be happier

Sorry for jumping on the thread but i have the same problem. I brough this aftermarket radio and didn't think it was possible to get the steering wheel control to work with it as it's not a main stream brand. There are two wires at the back of this unit that are for the steering wheel control but could never find anything that I knew would work. Is someone able to point me in the right direction?

Get in touch with the company that you bought it from or the manufacturer see what they can advise, make sure you tell them your make, model and year of your car.
