grill help

hey guys

i was looking at my grill and noticed what looked like stones had gone through the honeycomb design and hit what i think was the radiator, is there a way to prevent this by possibly pitting a fine mesh behind the grill to stop them or will this act like a barrier to the air trying to get in to keep the engine bay cool, any help is appreciated from past experience or anyone looked into this like i am.

Also if it is possible and safe, how easy is it to get access to the grill and take it out.

many thanks

It is possible & safe but i personally don't know how to remove the front bumper of a Mk 7.5,maybe have a look on YouTube or a Haynes manual. You can get different size & design mesh mainly in black or silver but you could always spray paint it any colour you want. Here's a picture of how i stopped stones getting into my Wilwood brake calipers;

thanks will have a look on the web to get an idea of it all, seems like a fairly simple job once the grille is removed, had a look at mesh sizes as well but not to sure on the size of the holes to go for, looks nice on your car mate what size did you go for.

You can buy it in different size sheets then cut to the desired size/shape to fit,just use the gap as a template. I used fibreglass resin to bond it as the front spoiler is grp,could always secure yours the same way?
