CharlesMax
Hi! I have a 2005 Focus Cmax. Today I tried to replace the lock on the rear door. It could be opened when I locked the car, and I could hear a ‘clack’ sound, but the door could still be opened from the outside. I removed the inner panel and replaced the lock with a new one. Foolishly, instead of testing it by simulating the closure with a screwdriver, I closed the door… and now it won’t open, whether I try from the inside or the outside. I really don’t know how to fix it, since the method for disassembly requires the door to be open to remove the lock screws! Is there a trick to this? I have the inner metal panel in place, the lock screws installed, but not the exterior handle (which I can still remove and install) nor the interior trim panel. When I activate the central locking, I hear the ‘clack’ sound from this door, and the steel cable of the inner handle vibrates but doesn’t move forward or back, and I can’t open the door by pulling it. It’s possible I installed the wrong lock: when assembling it, it was identical to mine except for a metal plate that mine didn’t have (please, see the green circle in the photo). I’m at a loss with this issue. Any ideas?
CharlesMax
Hi guys! Fortunately I opened de fu*** door. There is a hole near of the lock system. This are accessible after removing the internal trim. Is covered with duct tape. You can insert on it a screw somewhat tilted downward and looking as far back as possible, and push up the inner mechanism (look at the green line in the photo). This does the same as pulling the steel cable of the inner handle, so it will work only if the lock are "open". Also, you can see the child lock pulling the rubber gasket door (see the yellow circle), and using some type of thin, hand-bent plate. But all this tricks won't work if you do not hear the "clack" when you press the unlock in your key or release the lock in another door. At the end, this trick open the door if the lock mechanism allow to open through the inner handle and this one has broken or come loose. I have superimposed the lock mechanism over the door photo, the perspective is not perfect, but it gives an idea of where and how. Hope that this helps someone! 🙂
