Is there a manual way to open the roof cover lid?

I've had my StreetKa for a month now and about 2 weeks in I parked it somewhere with the roof up, came back, tried to take the roof down but the button to unlock the cover didn't respond. Restarted the car multiple times but still nothing. In that instance the button working wasn't a direct problem, because the roof was up I could just drive home and the next day the button worked again and hasn't failed since.

But it did occur to me, what if it happens when the roof is down? I'd like to know of a way to avoid that situation and I can't find one in the German manual that came with the car.

go to the link above for useful tips and solutions, it is in German but you can use  google for translation 🤗

Aaah that's great, thanks!

Especially this sentence has been illuminating: "Somewhat annoying is the standard Release of the top-of-cover only with "ignition on", but "motor out". This can be changed, conversion instructions see below."

My car's top-cover release button works even with the key not in the ignition, so apparently one of the previous owners made just such a conversion.

See page 54 owners manual. Our Streetka has a hard top, so when fitting it, the wiring for the release of the cover is disconnected. Only re-connected when back to the soft top, again per the manual. The manual release shown. Take care when manually releasing as the cover and open boot lid will not clear each.
