A lot of them have the same thing with how long you have had a full licence, but I have come across the odd one that expects you to remember the exact date when you passed your test!
RAIDER32
23 hours ago, auldreekie said: Just had a check on tesco after reading raiders post, quoted me £350, currently with RAC whose renewal went from £214 up to £250. Up till now staying with RAC. I was with Tesco for 6 years with my Focus Zetec S 1.6, when I got the Focus ST they were way up on the price list, Went back to Elephant who insured my old Escort 1.4, switch to Aviva for the last few years. Excluding the premiums with no windscreen cover, Tesco is one of the few under £700 for me now. I'm surprised I can get any cover, I live on Harehills Lane in Leeds where those riots were 🤣

Blatto
Haven't posted on these forums for a while but there's a few names on here who might recognise me from my Fiesta days between 2016 & 2022. My last Fiesta was a 2019 ST-Line 140 for which I paid around £300/Year fully comp. When Ford stopped producing the Fiesta I wanted I moved over to a Mazda 3 186 e Skyactiv X. When I got in it Dec 2022 I was quoted by the Insurance company I was using for the Ford for around about £750/year for the Mazda. Shopping around on the comparison sites I got that down to £320, so basicaly the same as the Fiesta. My Renewal quote In Dec 2023 was £1,300/year which was clearly ridiculous. Shopping around again I got it down to £760 which is still ridiculous, more than double from the year before. I've been driving for 45 years and have never had a single claim. It would be nice to see how they can justify a doubling in price from one year to the next? 1

Friday the 13th, 1989 😁. 8:45am test time. Made a right hash of my lesson beforehand. I nearly flattened a bin man 🤣 1

I didn't pass first time. I don't know what time it was when I passed, but do remember having an early morning test and failed it for not overtaking a milk float. Sorry to the OP for going bit
TomsFocus
I can remember the year of mine, but not the day or date, and it could be one of two months! Think it's printed on the licence, though I don't have access to that at the moment. I passed first time, but did turn the wrong way out of the test centre so the examiner had to change his route immediately. I'd done the observations and signals correctly, just couldn't remember right from left under the pressure. 🫢

Mine was the 15th June 1979, a Friday, needing an 'exeat' from school for me to take the test as it was 1.30pm. It was really uneventful apart from having to take a minor diversion due to a bomb scare. Passed 1st time, and went out that night on my own, feeling exhilarated at having no passenger, but also terrified, having no passenger! 😁

Was the driving age lower in NI? Or was school longer? We left school at 16, but couldn't drive until 17.

(O levels at 16) 👍

My school didn't have a 6th form. Would've had to do A levels at college. (Though I chose a trade course instead.)

auldreekie
My test day was before seatbelts, during my emergency stop my test examiner flew forward hitting his head on the windscreen crushing the trilby hat he had on.😀 I asked him is that the test over? Thinking he was going to fail me, He replied no , there was nothing wrong with my reflexes and he wasn't prepared. Went on to pass the test that day.
rd457
I missed a theory test because my mother was driving, we were running late, and she managed to get us lost in a bus terminal. 🤣
Eric Bloodaxe
Seeing as we seemed to have turned this into a "My driving test" thread": My motorbike test was 6 June 1969, but I didn't do my car test until 20 July 1971. I should have done the car test some time earlier, but the day before my test I decided to do a last "recce" of the likely test routes, on the 'bike. Someone drove straight into me out of a side road so I ended up in A&E instead! Once sufficiently recovered I did some extra lessons as I was a bit rusty by then, and took the test wearing a slipper on my right foot** which was still swathed in bandages! (** It must be an unlucky foot as its now held together with screws as a result of a later incident.😀)
