Phil Mc
I have bought an ‘89 XR2 and apparently it had been stood in a field for 2 years and as a consequence the rear brakes needed an overhaul. I bought a replacement handbrake cable and unknown to me at first, the cable is held against the inside of the backplate by a ‘collar’ and retaining clip. The collar had rusted itself to the old cable and looked to me to be part of the cable. Comparing the new and old cable, I realised that there was something wrong. I managed to separate the collars from the old cable but because of the rust, they need replacing. I’m not even sure what their correct name is and I’ve been unable to track any down. The handbrake manufacturer suggested I call upon your help. Does anyone know what they’re actually called and where can I get some from?
