Kuga - Engine Malfunction - Warning

Just had a look at my daughters Kuga which is pinging up an Engine Malfunction warning. Possibly something to do with DPF ?

See attached screen shoot from ForScan. I would welcome any advice on where to start looking for the most likely cause.

On the face of it, it looks like a faulty DPF Pressure sensor or the wiring to it.

I would hook it up to read Live Data including the Differential Pressure and take the car for a run. There might be PID's for its voltage as well as the actual pressure. You could try to give the wiring and connector a wiggle test while monitoring if safe to do so.

Thanks for that Tizer, han't thought about using Live Data to test the pressure sensor. I will give that ago tomorrow.

No problem. I don't know what engine she has but I would expect it to read between 0 and 0.5 kPa at Idle. If it is reading 0 then there will be a fault. Steady cruising could be anything between 2 and 5, but it should not jump about erratically at any time including Idle.

Might also be the Pressure Tubes connected to the sensor.

DPF pressure sensors are extremely common on these Kugas.

Like Tizer said check live data on the sensor for pressure, if it's reading anything or fluctuating with just ignition on its faulty.

Check the pipes to the sensor as well from the DPF, these are known to perish and break apart.

Failing that you can test the sensor itself by back probing the top wire (it's white if I remember correctly) and with ignition on you should read 0.5 volts and when idling it should read 0.6 volts. I can't remember off the top of my head what fast idle is

Update:

Fitted a new DPF sensor this morning and "Reset" learnt values in PCM to clear Engine malfunction. Took the car on a 30 mile trip and all seems good, no warning lights and car drove well.

Hi lads, I've had an error code appear P244b which is pressure sensor , I've ordered a sensor but on inspection notice wire looked frayed, can these be repaired or anyone know part number or where I can source online, not knowing what it's actually called so struggling to find one lol🤦‍♂️. I've added a pic so hhopefully you'll understand what I mean..TIA lads

Hello Gra, that is part of the engine bay wiring harness, not really a replaceable item. Best course of action is to cut the damaged wire(s) and slide on some adhesive lined heatshrink tubing. solder the wires back together and then shrink down the tubing.

I had same issue.  Went to scrap yard, bought new sensor plug with 5 inches of wire and resoldered further up and insulated and put in plastic protection. Good as new.

I thought I'd solved it by having wiring repaired and new sensor. Worked for 6 weeks until dreaded light appeared on Wednesday. I'm now trying to source the pressure hose from sensor to exhaust. Any ideas?. Cant find a part number anywhere
